Pro-AI PACs Pour Over $100M into 2026 Midterm Elections — AI Becomes Political Battleground
Multiple pro-AI PACs plan to spend over $100M in the 2026 midterms to support deregulation candidates. Groups backed by OpenAI co-founder and Palantir executives join the race.
Multiple political action committees promoting AI industry deregulation plan to spend over $100 million in the 2026 US midterm elections. Innovation Council Action, led by former Trump aide Taylor Budowich and supported by AI advisor David Sacks, plans to spend at least $100 million backing pro-deregulation candidates. Leading the Future, backed by OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman and Palantir co-founders, is also deploying significant election funds. According to the Financial Times, these newly formed PACs advocate for both AI advancement and data center construction, supporting candidates aligned with the Trump administration's technology agenda. On the regulation side, Anthropic's AnthroPAC and Public First (which received $20 million from Anthropic) support candidates favoring stronger AI oversight. The clash between pro-AI deregulation forces and regulation advocates has emerged as a defining political issue for the 2026 midterms. In Texas, AI-aligned super PACs have already poured millions into congressional races, signaling nationwide expansion of AI industry political influence.
